FRENCHMAN CONFIDENT CONSUL ENTERTAINED

PARLIAMENT LEADERS

(Por Pross Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. At the invitation of the acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. P. Fraser, the Consul-General for France in New Zealand, M. Pouquet, was entertained at morning tea. Those present included members of the Cabinet, the British High Commissioner in New Zealand, Sir Harry Batterbee, the Speakers of both Houses, members of the Defence Council, and the heads of the army, navy and defence forces. M. Pouquet, replying to the greeting. emphasised the importance of the mission in which the two countries were associated and expressed complete confidence in the outcome. He acknowledged with fervour the close association of the Allies 25 years ago and concluded by asking those present to toast the health of the King.
