WAIPIRO FLOWER SHOW EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY INCREASING POPULARITY (Herald Correspondent.) The third annual flower show wa: held last Saturday in the Waipiro Baj Hall. Proof of the increasing popu larity of the show was the recorc number of entries, there being 20 more than last year. The Rev. A. R. H. Morris opened thi show, remarking on how well ever; section had been patronised, and the exceptional quality and quantity o: the exhibits in the Maori court ane the children’s section. The judges included: Messrs. Browr and Todd, flower section; Mrs. E. C Grant and Miss Turnbull, sewing, knit ting, wool and cotton crochet sections Mrs. S. Burdett and Mrs. Kirkham cooking; Mrs. Kirkham and' Mrs Cockery, vegetables and produce; Mrs A. J. Grant and Mrs. Kemp, preserves; Mrs. Newton and Mrs Cockery, Maori court; Miss K. Beale and Mrs. G. Cotterill, craftswork anc children’s section. Many special prizes were donated, the most important being the silvei rose bowl presented by Mr. S. F Logan, Onehunga, for highest point; in the flower section, including decorative, which was won by Mrs. H. E. Williams, Ruatoria, The prize for the largest number of entries in the show, donated by Mr. W. S. Thompson, was awarded to Mrs. Malcolm, who entered 42 exhibits. The first and second prizes for highest points gained in the show, donated by Mrs. A. B. Williams and Mr. H. Williams, were won by Mrs. W. S. Thompson and Mrs. Malc6lm. Miss de Montalk, Tolaga Bay, won the prize for sewing, donated by Mrs. A. B. Williams, while Mi’S. W. S. Thompson won the prize for knitting and crotchet work, the donor being Mrs. A. R. H. Morris. Miss K. Beale won the prize for the cooking section. In the Maori court, Mrs. H. Riwai gained the prizes for the highest points and the highest number of entries. Mrs. Riwai and Mrs. Wharehinga were also awarded special prizes for their leaven bread. Mrs. A. B. Williams had donated a special prize for the highest points gained in the children’s section, the winner being Alice Irving Mr. H.
