BADMINTON

TOKOMARU BAY CLUB SEASON’S FINAL NIGHT (Herald, Correspondent - .) The Tokomaru Bay Badminton Club held its final night recently, there being a good attendance of members and visitors. The evening was taken up with friendly games, everyone present taking part whether they had played the game before or not. Pride of place was given to the fine array of silver cups. The club served a refreshing supper ,after which the president, Mr. H. D. Gardner, congratulated the winners of \he trophies won during the year. Mr. Gardner said that it was without doubt their most successful season. Mrs. Gardner then presented the trophies, as follows: — Club minatures for last year (1938). —Men’s singles, K. Oates. Combined Handicap Doubles: D. Feiton and Mrs. F. Moat. This season’s championship trophies, —Ladies’ Singles: Mrs. G. Knox. Men’s Singles: K. Oates. Combined Dougles: S. Lyle-Smythe and Mrs. C. Squire. Ladies’ Doubles: Misses D. Pepper and M. Atkins. Men’s Doubles: K. Oates and S. Lyle-Smythe. Among those present were Mesdames H. Gardner, G. Knox, Pepper, and Pardoe; Misses D. Pepper, M. Atkins, V. Pasfield, C. Colbert, M. Nelson, J. Nightingale, N. Bignell, M. Bignell, J. Mitchell, M. Armstrong, M. Nevin) Wallace, hnd N. Matahiki.
