NAZIS IN LATVIA
HITLER’S INVITATION ONE OF FIRST COLONIES UP TO 60,000 PEOPLE (Klee. Tel. ('opyriphl—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 9, 1.20 tun.) LONDON, Oct. 8. The Riga correspondent of The Times states that Herr Hitler has invited ail Germans in Latvia to return to Germany. This involves 60,000 people, the majority of whose families have been looted in the soil for generations. The transfer would mean the liquidation, of one of Germany’s oldest colonies. It is understood that similar measures are being initiated in Estonia and elsewhere, but it is uncertain whether the invitation includes German colonies in Russia, tens of 'thousands of whose denizens attempted to flee from Russia a few years ago, but were most forcibly detained and redistributed in Soviet territory. Pro-ITitlcr enthusiasts in Latvia, welcomed the invitation and the exodus is to begin immediately. German transports already have arrived at the Latvia seaports, Liepaja and Ventspils, where Russia has arranged to establish naval bases and garrisons
