SELECTIVE BUYING

HOME STOCK MARKETS

WAR IMPACT LOSSES WIDE SHARE RANGE (■Blec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. 9, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 7. Business in the stock markets has not been large, but there is evidence of careful, selective buying. The gi owing confidence in the ability of the authorities to maintain easy money conditions has helped alt the markets. Insurance, banking, aircraft, gas, electricity, brewery, motor, newspaper and retail store shares have all sustained heavy losses since the war. Food, tobacco and building material shares have fared better, while iron, steel, coal, chemical and rubber shares have been little changed since August 31. “Bull” markets have been established in shipping, textiles, bas metal and oil issues.
