KAHUTIA FUNCTION
WORK BY MEMBERS A feature of the opening ceremony on the Kahutia Bowling Club’s green on Saturday was the attendance in force of lady members and llieir friends. The president of the club, Mr. VV. Jackson, thanked the ladies for the support they had given Ihe club. He congratulated the greenkeeper and members of the working bee who had worked so well in getting the greens and kerbings in order and for painting the clubhouse both inside and out. Mr. A. Slight, president of the Gisborne Bowling Centre, congratulated the club on the excellent work done on the greens and in fixing up the kerbs. It was a big and expensive job, and the members, by tackling it
themselves, had reduced the expenditure considerably. He congratulated the green superintendent and the greenkeeper. The Gisborne district was fortunate, he said, in having such callable green keepers. After the centre president had declared the season open, Mrs. R. Jenkins rolled down the first jack, on to which she drew an excellent shot, being warmly applauded by the bowlers for her excellent effort.
