THEFT FROM COLLEGES AGENT FOR SENTENCE (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. With 24 convictions since his arrival from England in 1924, Harold Haigh Hardgrave, aged 47, was charged it the Polce Court yesterday with the theft of goods valued at £44 from a dwelling and students’ colleges. Will, him, Thomas Hyland, aged 32, r seaman from Scotland, was charger with stealing clothing valued at 15=. Hardgrave said he was a profe: sional soldier and that, he wished i return to his regiment. He was sen fenced to six months’ imprisonment. Hyland was admitted to 12 months probation. Stated by the police to have altered three bank deposit slips with the intent ion of showing that a greatei amount had been deposited, Francis Cleaver Matthews, aged 32, an insurance agent, charged with the theft of £39 from, the Mutual Life and Citizens’ Assurance Company, and alsr forgery, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
