SERVICE TO AUSTRALIA AUTHORITY SOUGHT (Elec. To!. Copyright-—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Oct. l>, 9 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 5. The Post Office and Pan. American AirvVays to-day urged the Civil Aeronautics Authority to authorise a passenger and air mail service from California to Australia, via Honolulu. Canton Island, Noumea and Auckland. Mr. Charles Craddick, the airmail superintendent, opposed “stud service” originating from Honolulu. He said that the existing trans-Pacific service to Hong Kong should be continued and improved and the new service should originate from the United States. The Australian Associated Press understands that a service to Australia will be inaugurated on January 1.
