THE WEATHER Last Night’s Forecast General situation. —An anticyclone still covers the Dominion, but the disturbance to the north is now intensifying. Pressure is very low over south-eastern Australia. Forecast. Winds fresh to strong easterly to south-easterly over the Auckland province, elsewhere, light to moderate and variable at first, but with northerly gradually predominating in the south, and later freshening; seas, rough north of East Cape, elsewhere slight or moderate but later rising south of Westport. Eastern Tasman Sea: Strong but decreasing easterly winds and rough seas in the northern portion, moderate but freshening northerly winds and slight but rising seas in the centre and southern portions. Weather: Dull and unsettled over the Auckland province with occasional rain, elsewhere fair to line at first, fmt unsettled conditions gradually becoming more general. Temperatures: Mild to cool to-night, wiht some frosts. To-Day’s North Island Report The weather was overcast or cloudy at all points along the East Coast this morning, with the exception ol Tauranga and Opotiki, and at 9 o'clock intermittent rain was falling at Auckland. The barometric pressure showed a further decline, but the variation from yesterday's reading was small. The temperatures were:— Tauranga and Cape Marla Van fjiemen, 58 degrees: Wellington, 57; Auckland, Opotiki and Napier, 56; and Gisborne, 53. Easterly winds prevailed generally, witli a strong breeze at Auckland, but light winds elsewhere. Midday Forecast General situation.—An anticyclone is centred near Hawke’s Bay, while depressions are located to the north and over Tasmania, the latter being comparatively intense. Forecast.—Moderate to fresh northeast to east winds. Weather cloudy, with possibly some rain later, chiefly north of Wairoa. Temperatures mild. 'Seas slight to moderate, but rising in the north. •'
