STORTFORD LODGE CATTLE VALUES DROP (Per Press A»«oolation.l HASTINGS, this day. With .a greatly . increased yarding, prices in the fat cattle section at Stortford Lodge stock sale yesterday showed a decline. The quality throughout was very plain, except in the ox beef pens, where good drafts came forward. A very short yarding in the fa\ sheep section resulted in improved prices throughout. ' The store sheep offering comprised mainly hoggets,- which rose in price considerably. The quality was good and competition keen. Only best lines attracted attention hi the store cattle section, where quality was lacking. Several lines were passed- in at prices considerably below the reserve. Realisations were:— Fat Cattle.—Bullocks, £l3 5s to £l4 10s; tops, £ls 10s to £ls 10s; heavy; fairly finished cows/ £lO to £ll ss; lighter quality, £0 sr: to £9 18s; heavy prime heifers, £lO 12s fid to £ll 2s fid; big. unfinished heifers, £8- 17s fid; small-framed, finished heifers, £7 Os. Store Sheep.—Wether hoggets! tops, 23s sd: good quality, 18s 2d to 19s 3d; lighter sorts, 15s fid; ewe hoggets to 26s 4d; lighter pens, 21s Sri "to 24s 3d; Store Cat’lc. —Crossbred bullocks, lacking condition, £7 10s to £7 15s; light young steers, £6 10s; yearling Polled Angus steers. £4 9s; heavy bullocks, £8 10s to £9 3s. Fat Sheep.—Good ewes, 24s 3d to 265; tops, 26s to 29s 9d; lighter pens, 19s to 20s ; best hoggets, 23s Gd to 25s 6d; average, 19s; wethers, 27s Cd to 28s 6d.
