THIS WEEK’S MEETING JUVENILES AND ADULTS The fortnightly meeting of the Juvenile Rechabites’ Tent was held an Tuesday, Sister Margaret Bull, deputy ruler, presiding over a iarge itiendance. Brother and Sister Wallen’s home and also of the pound night next Lodge night. Nothing definite was etiied on for the picnic to be held ;n Labour Day. At the conclusion of the juvenile roeting, the Gisborne Tent, No. 54, :r.e: for its monthly meeting, Sister :4. Wallen, C.R., presiding over a good attendance of members.. A letter received from the secretary of the Gisborne Friendly Societies’ Council regarding the treatment of out-patients by the Cool: .-hospital Board was discussed. The proposal to establish “wet’ canteens in the military camps in New Zealand also was discussed, and it was fqlt that anything detrimental o the health of the fittest and best of New Zealand's manhood could not be in accordance with the ideals set out in the rituals of friendly societies, 'be 1.0. R. most particularly. Brother F. E. Wallen. W.1.C.R., reper'ed on having attended the sixtyfifth anniversary dinner of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows. An invitation was received from 'he Foresters Lodge for four 1.0. R. members to .attend an indoors bowls competition .this evening. Brothers J. V. Scott, A. Sebire, C. King and F. E. Wallen were deputed to attend. A remit dealing with the compulsory medical examination of members on transfer was discussed by members. It was felt that some provision should be made by the district rules to cover older members on transfer from one tent to another at a time when they might be in need of medical attention .The remit is to be forwarded to the district secretary for inclusion in the 1940 conference agenda. Supper was handed round bv the tea steward, Brother P. T. Walker.
