MASTER CARRIERS
EXECUTIVE RE-ELECTED LEGISLATION DISCUSSED Practically all executive officers of the Gisborne Master Carriers’ Association were re-elected at the annual meeting of that body, held last evening in Messrs. Clare and Clare’s premises. Those present were Messrs. J. J. "Macdonald, chairman, R. G. Clare, A. Clare, H. Nicol, C Pollard, F. Pollard, A. Hopps, A. Niven, R. Kane, P. Parry, W. F. lies, P. Malony, A. Scholium, W. Dudson, and A. S. Jamison, hon. secretary. The report and balance sheet placed before members were discussed favourably, and were adopted.
The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. J. J. Macdonald, reelected! vice-president, Mr. R. G. Clare, re-elected; executive committee, Messrs. T. Smale, A. Scholium, W. F. lies, and H. Nicol, re-elected; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Jamison, re-elected; hon. auditor, Mr. M. R. Fry; trustees, Messrs. J. J. Macdonald and T. Smale.
Recent legislation dealing with transport control in war-time was considered by the meeting, and certain decisions’ taken with regard to the town carriers’ interests. Representations will be made to the committee for the district under the new regulations, probably following a further special meeting of the association, when full information should be available as to town carriers’ licenses, petrol regulations, and other questions affecting the operators. The president and secretary were authorised to call the special meeting as soon as sufficient information was to hand.
