PROMOTING WELFARE

British efforts to promote the welfare of colonial workers and to build sound trade union movements are to :ontinue during the war. The importance of this work was stressed by the Colonial Secretary, Mr. Malcolm Macdonald, at a meeting of colonial officers taking a course on labour problems in the colonial Empire. TOBACCO FOR TROOPS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Oct. 3. With the approval of the WatOffice the Overseas 'League Tobacco Fund, which collected £368,203 in the last war, has been restarted. The object is to Keep men at the front well supplied with tobacco. Between 1914 and 913 the league sent overseas more than 300,000,000 cigarettes.
