STATE TAKES OVER
AERO CLUB’S PLANT PLANES AND EQUIPMENT (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, stated to-day that the aircraftand equipment of all aero clubs was being taken over by the Royal New Zealand Air Force. 'So far the aircraft belonging to the Wellington, Auckland, Otago and Southland Aero Clubs have been taken over and values had been placed on the aircraft and equipment. All aero club flying ceased by direction of the Government on September 25. and il is anticipated that all aero club aircraft will have been taken over by the middle of October.
The Minister paid a tribute to the co-operation shown by the Royal New Zealand Aero Club, which had agreed that the amounts owing to aero clubs should stand free of interest until the termination of the war. This general gesture was warmly appreciated by the Government.
