SHORTAGE OF FATS
AUSTRIA AND SLOVAKIA QUEST, IN HUNGARY GERMAN DELEGATION (Reed. Oct. 2, 2.40 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 1. The Budapest correspondent of The Times says that a German trade delegation in Hungary is reported to be demanding an Increase in food exports, especially pigs, for the relief of a dire shortage of fats and meats in Austria and Slovakia. Hungarians ask for payment in coal, but the Germans are unwilling, in view of the French threat to the Saar mines. The Germans are seeking to triple the £40,000,000 debt which the Hungarians point out may be acceptable since German holdings in Hungary may be seized in the event of German defeat.
