WEEK-END SOCCER

• HOCKEY TEAM'S WIN The Caledonian hockey team played a game of soccer during the weekend against the Eastern Union soccer team, who were second in the Poverty Bay Football Association’s championship competition. The result was a win for Caledonian by tour goals to two. The Caledonian team was without the two full-backs and goalkeeper, and had to find substitutes among regular soccer players, while Eastern Union were without the two wing forwards. Caledonian owed their victory mainly to a good performance by the forwards, who combined well. A. Crothers scored two of their goals and Slade and McLean one each. Bridge secured both the Eastern Union goals.
