TITLE RETAINED

EMPIRE WRESTLING WIN FOR M'-'CREADY (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. Moving on the defensive in the early stages and absorbing considerable punishment in the process, Earl McCready, British Empire wrestling champion, came with a strong finish at the Town Hall to retain his title against the challenge from “Lofty” Blomfield. Conceeding the first fall in the second round, McCready for the great part of the time was retreating before his opponent, who was throwing his jolts in devastating fashion and wrestling with considerable speed and skill. The New Zealander could not stay the distance, however, and as he commenced to weaken in the sixth, the Canadian marshalled his energy and evened the falls. McCready was much more impressive over the final two rounds, and earned a points decision.
