CENTRE BOWLS
TOURNAMENT PLAY SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE CENTENNIAL EFFORT The bowling tournament conducted on Saturday by the Gisborne and East Coast Bowling Centre in support of the candidature of the sports queen. Miss N. Henderson, in the centennial queen carnival, was a most successful one and the proceeds amounted to £l7 Three rounds were played and the section winners were found before the close of the afternoon’s games. The three leading rinks, who are to play oil at a later date, are:—H. Moles, A. Brown, R'. Rennie and A. Slight (s.); J. Kane, S. Gallop, J. Watson, P. Meredith Cs.); F. Matthewson, J. Strawbridge, T. Robertson, G. Henderson (s.). Representatives of the centre thanked the clubs for placing the' greens at the disposal of the centre. iMr. A. Slight, president of the centre, spoke at the Kahutia green, Mr. J. K. Popple, vice-president, spoke at the Gisborne green, and Mr. D. G. Robertson, secretary, spoke at the Poverty Bay green.
