“DEPRESSION” IN BRITAIN “SHORTAGE” OF SUPPLIES (Reed. Sept. 30, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 29. The Rotterdam correspondent of The Times states that German propaganda presents England as nervous and depressed and faced with a shortage of food and petrol. The British war Budget is represented as the first shadow of financial ruin ahead. The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. Winston Churchill, is depicted as the chief warmonger.
The Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, and the Foreign Secretary, Viscount Halifax, are hardly mentioned.
