DISTRICT VOLUNTEERS INFANTRYMEN GO EARLY SPECIALISTS IN DAYLIGHT Some misapprehension having been occasioned through conflicting announcements regarding the day on which, the initial Gisborne drafts for Trcntham and other camps are to leave next week, it is explained that all men selected from this district for the first “main body” force of 6600 men are to leave on Tuesday. Infantrymen bound for Trentham and machine-gunners and ambulance men for Burnham, will proceed south by service-car or bus, leaving at 2 a.m, to reach Wairoa in time 1o connect with a special railcar trip. This will enable them to detrain at Napier in time for breakfast, and they will proceed southward by aspecial train the same morning. Volunteers selected for the divisional mechanised cavalry and artillery will leave Gisborne at 3.30 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, and will reach Wairoa that evening, proceeding _to their respective camps the following day from that point, making the stage to Napier by railcar, and arriving at Palmerston ’North at 12.30 p.m. by Wednesday's southbound express. They will spend some hours in Palmerston North, and will travel by the northbound express from that point to Ngaruawahia. The draft, a small one, will reach Ngaruawahia at 5.30 a.m. on Thursday, October 5.
