DESIRE TO SERVE

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE 300 JOIN IN NAPIER, A commentary on the widespread desire to be of service in the present situation is contained in the fact that last s week nearly 300 >new members v/ere' enrolled with the 'Napier Brigade of the St. John Ambulance. 20 being from Awatoto, 30 from Bay View, 15 from Eskdale, 40 from Taradale, 57 from the Women’s Club. 40 from Meeanee, and 50 from Napier. So great has been the response to the appeal for volunteers that it has been found necessary to start new classes. At present there are as many as four classes being held daily, and instructors have been kept exceptionally busy coping with the demand for instruction.

An additional women's class was started last week and a further class will begin in a few days.
