TIKIWHATA NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) A pleasant social evening was held at the Tikiwhata cook-house to farewell Mr. A. Clarkson, on the eve of his departure for Trentham. Toasts were drunk, and speeches made by several returned soldiers. Community singing, led by Mr. Lynch, Kopuawhara, was entered into with enthusiasm, and songs were given by several of those present. Mr. S. Eagle was in the chair.
Sorrow was felt by the residents of Tikiwhata at the death of Mrs, H. McQuilkin, which occurred in Gisborne on Tuesday evening. Although Mrs. McQuilkin had boon in hospital for some weeks, her death came as a shock. Much sympathy is felt for her husband and two daughters in their bereavement. The funeral took place in Gisborne on Thursday.
