RIVER WATER TESTS
ASSEMBLY OF PLANT VISITOR FROM MELBOURNE Final arrangements are being made for the testing of the Waipaoa River water under varying conditions throughout a prolonged period, and the pilot filtration plant is expected to be in working order soon.
A representative of the Water Filtration and Softening Proprietary, who supplied the pilot plant, is at present in Gisborne to complete the assembly of the plant. This representative is Mr. W. Tobe, who arrived last night, and proceeded with the borough engineer, Mr. E. R. Thomas, to the site this morning.
The purpose of this installation is to collect data regarding the river conditions in all types of weather, and when this has been completed consideration will be given by the Borough Council regarding the preparation of a scheme of using the river water to augment the borough supply from Waingake.
