MILLER CHALLENGE CUP GISBORNE BEAT WAIKOHU vHerald Correspondent.) The second of a series of badminton matches for the W. B. Miller Challenge Cup was played on Tuesday owning in Te Karnka between representatives of tire Gisborne Badminton Club and a combined team from the //aikohu and Puha badminton clubs. Gisborne players proved superior, winning by 10 games to two, making .heir total for the two matches 22 out of a possible 24. The final match wiil be played on October 5, when the Waikohu-Puha team will journey to Bartletts to meet their representatives. The result of this match, however, cannot afTect the Gisborne club's right to hold the cup until next year. Detailed scores of the games at Te Ksraka arc as follows, Gisborne players being mentioned first in each instance: —

Combined Doubles.—W. Hopkinson and Mrs. Slcan d. T. Tombleson and Miss Juliet Scott, 21—G; T. Harrison and Miss M. Haisrnan lost to E. Ruru and Miss Josephine Scott, 14—21; I. Niven and Miss Johnson d. A. Manuel and Miss G. Adams,227;1 —7; R. Sloan and Miss Ambridge d. J. Cunningham and Miss N. Coates, 21—7; E. East and Miss Redgrave d. J. Dowding anci Miss J. Kyne.22B;1 —8; Sebire and Miss Taylor lost to G. S. Bridge and Miss L. Ruru, 20—23.

At the conclusion of play the visitors were entertained at supper and Mr. M. J. Kyne, president of the Waikoliu club, expressed their pleasure at meeting the Gisborne players and congratulated them cn their good ••ecord in the Miller Cup matches. Mr. R. Sloan replied on behalf of the Gisborne ciub.
