That unemployment benefits to able-
bodied men under the Social Security Act should be suspended for the duration of the war and the scheme 4B for farm development work should be abolished and a revised scheme for general farm labour be introduced with the view of increasing production were motions passed unanimously at a meeting of the Whangarei Farmers’ Union.
