BRITISH TRAITOR GAOLED

INFORMATION SUPPLIED CENSURE BY JUDGE (Reed. Sept. 27, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 25. “Last week I was trying people for murder, but I do not know that a man like you is not worse than any of these murderers, because in return for money you took part in murdering many of your fellow countrymen,” said (Mr. Justice Oliver to-day, in pronouncing sentence at the Old Bailey. A Briton, described- as a racing journalist, Donald Adams, aged 56, pleaded guilty on 18 counts of forwarding information to Germany. He was sentenced *to seven years’ imprisonment with hard labour. Photostatic copies of a code and of scores of letters which had been intercepted by the postal authorities were produced in court. It was stated that Adams represented a Dresden manufacturing firm, and had received letters from a firm in Hamburg. 'When intercepted, many of these letters proved to contain money, ostensibly for placing on horses, and alleged racing information. In return, Adams had sent books and information. On one occasion a copy of the British Army Infantry Training Manual was intercepted.
