In the first round matches of t’he Pacific West Coast tennis tournament Quist beat Marvin J Carlock, 7—5, B—2;8 —2; H. Hopman heat L. Bond, 5 —7, G —3, 8 —0; Crawford beat Mel Gallagher by default. Paul Lucas and Quist have challenged Gilbert Rowland and Crawford to a doubles match, the losers to pay the winners’ expenses for the day.
