CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL

EAST COAST SCHEME WHAKARUA PARK WORK (Special to the Herald.) TE PUIA, this day. A report of a public meeting held to discuss alternative proposals for a centennial memorial for the Ruatoria district was placed before the recent meeting of the Waiapu County Council.

The report stated that the meeting was unanimously in favour of improvements to the Whakarua Park in lieu of tree planting on the main highway.

Approval to the proposal was given by the council, which decided to have a scheme prepared and to apply to the National Centennial Council for approval.
