MARIST CRICKET CLUB

THE ANNUAL MEETING TEAMS FOR NEW SEASON The ninth annual meeting of the Marist Cricket Club was held in the Uhletic social rooms, when Mr. W. M. Wildish, presided over a large attendance of members. A vote of condolence was passed with Mr. M. J. Kyne in his recent bereavement. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Father McMahon; president, Mr. W. M. Wildish; vice-president, Fathers Curley, Forsman, Berridge, and Fahy, Brothers Edwin. Dennis, and Vergilious, Messrs. D. T. Parker, L. Dailey. C. Purlis, L. Cooper. N. Lloyd, J. Bray, P. Brady, K. Jones, J. Martin, H. Alley, R. Chalmers, J. Quirk, and E. Ward: life members, Brother Dernadlne and Mr. M. J. Kyne: lion, secretary, Mr. A. Coker; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. James; club captain, Mr. R. Connop: hon. auditor. Mr. J. Egan: committee, Messrs. E James, C. Scholium. M. McMahon. T. Donovan, V. Norman and Brother Edwin; gear custodians, Messrs. P. Tilley and M. McMahon: delegates to Poverty Bay Cricket Association. Messrs. E. James, K. Connop and Brother Dennis: senior A captain. Mr. E. James; senior A vice-captain, Mr. M. O’Brien; senior B captain. Mr. M. McMahon: senior B vice-cap-tain, Mr. T. Donovan.

Mr. Connop moved and Mr. James seconded that the subscriptions tor seniors be £l. with a reduction of 5s if paid before December 31. And the senior B, under 18, to be 10s. with a reduction of 2s Cd, if paid before December 31. The motion was carried.

It was decided to apply for Tuesdays and Thursdays as practice nights. Votes of thanks were passed to Mesdames Bignall and Lee for the capable way they handled the afternoon tea, the umpires, groundsman, and the press. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to Mr. A. McMahon for the trophies he donated to the Marist juniors last season. It was left to Mr. M. McMahon to arrange with the Marist Football Club for an evening for the benefit of the Marist Cricket Club. Brother Dennis moved and Mr. P Tilley seconded, that Mr. M. McMahon and the secretary, have power to nominate either one or two teams for the senior B competition.
