GISBORNE DISTRICT
400 FIGURE PASSED
The growing opinion that there will be an expeditionary force sent abroad from New Zealand to take part in the war is having a stimulating effect upon the recruiting of the special military force, for which the Government invited enrolments a fortnight ago. Already the 400 mark lias been passed in Gisborne, and the flow of recruits shows no signs of slackening. Tt is understood that the quota alotted to the No. 7 area of the central military district’ which extends from the E ist Cape to Waipukurau, including the greater part of Hawke’s Bay, is 453 men of the total of GGOO to be enlisted as a first major move. There will be a substantial overflow for reinforcements from this district, after the first quota is taken out, for tlie area enrolments to date have been in excess of 12(10.
