GISBORNE RUGBY WIN BY OLD BOYS Ohl Boys 9pts. Marlst C The last same of the 1939 RuP’bv season in Gisborne was played at the Oval on Saturday, when Old Boys and Marist third grade teams met in the final of the Auto Parts Cup series.

Old Boys required a win to take the trophy outright and they were the victors in a hard-fought game by nine points to six. The winners were the better team, but allowed themselves to become bustled by the blue forwards. For Old Boys Clay, White and Goodwin scored unconverted tries. C. McCarthy and Walters scoring for the losers. The referee was Mr. H. Hunter. MARIST BEATEN CLOSE GAME IN NAPIER (Special to the Herald.) NAPIER, this day. In a Rugby match played at Marewa Park on Saturday, Napier Marist juniors beat Gisborne Marist juniors by 15 points to 13. The game was of a very friendly nature, and was played in the usual end of the season style. While their condition lasted both teams made it willing, the match being an interesting one throughout.
