OLD BOYS’ PROSPECTS

GOOD SEASON AHEAD NEW MEMBERS WELCOMED At the general meeting of the Oid Boys' Cricket Club, held in Mr. C. E. Brown’s premises on Thursday evening, Mr. I. Niven, chairman of the meeting, expressed satisfaction at the bright prospects for the coming season, and welcomed several new members to the club. Mr. H. LofTler tendered his resignation as hon. secretary, a motion of thanks for his past services being passed unanimously. The eiction of officers resulted: — President. Mr. F. W. Nolan: vicepresidents, Messrs. C. D. Stewart, C. Lord, L. V. Pyke, L. T. Burnard, H. E. Bright, T. Loftier. C. E. Brown, J. do V. W. Blathwayt .and G Locket.; hon. secretary, Mr. A. C>. Fisher; delegates to Poverty Bay Cricket Association. Messrs. J. de V. W. Blathwayt. C. Fraser and A. G. Fisher: gear committee, Messrs. E. Bridge. C Fraser, and A. G. Fisher. The election of captain was deferred until the opening match of the season. The delegates were given authority to apply for the same practice nights, Tuesdays and Thursdays; and the meeting resolved that the subscription be the same as for last season. Votes of thanks to the umpires, the press, and to Mesdames Bignall and Lee for afternoon tea. were heartily endorsed by all present. The gear committee was instructed to make any purchases necessary to bring the gear up to first-class standard before the opening match. Before the conclusion of the meeting several members expressed thensatisfaction at the signing-up of so many new members, and also the return of one or two first-class players who had dropped out two years ago. Past members, it was fell, would welcome the news that Old Boys would be in the position to make a strong challenge for club championship honours during the 1939-40 season.
