University Scheme Dropped
i The registrar of Canterbury Uni- , varsity College wrote to the Otago' t University Council submitting a 1 memorandum from Professor White, recommending that the four (Alleges should make a combined effort to - provide £SOO per annum for the appointment of a•refugee of high academic standing to lecture in the four' centres. The Chancellor said that the outbreak of war had made a difference, and probably it would be difficult now to put such a scheme into effect. Dr. Bell- said that the professorial board had considered the proposal, and in its view the project was impracticable. A motion to this, effect wtis carried.
