COASTAL TRADE The Wainui. which is loading for Gisborne and Napier, is expected to leave B'.utl' on Monday, Dunedin on Tuesday. Oainaru and Timaru on Wednesday. Lyttelton on Thursday, thence Wellington. The vessel should arrive here about October 2. The Karitane. which is bar hound at Westport, is still due at Gisborne about Wednesday next to discharge Greymouth and Westport cargo.

The Pakura loads at Lyttelton today and at Wellington on Monday lor Nanier, Waikokopn, Gisborne and the Coast. The ship is due at Gisborne next Thursday. The Pukeko loads cement at Portland to-day. and on Monday calls at Auckland. The vessel arrives here next Wednesday to discharge cement, and afterwards sails for Napier. The V.opara loads at Auckland on Monday and Tuesday for Coast bays. Gisborne and Napier, discharging at Gisborne on Thursday. The Margaret W. was due at Auckland tins afternoon from Gisborne, via Coast bays. She loads at Auckland on Monday and Tuesday for Tokomaru Bay. Tolaga Bay and Gisborne, returning here next Thursday. UNSUBSIDISED VESSELS 1 ORDERED IN U.S. The Sun Shipbuilding and Drvdock Company, Chester (Pa.), have received orders lor the construction, without the aid of Government funds, of two vessels for Sealrain Lines, Incorporated. They arc intended for a new weekly service between New York and Texas City, and will be of similar design to the Scatratn New York and Sealrain Havana, .of 1 8001 tons gross, but slightly larger, having a carrying capacity of 100 standard cars, or five more than the other two vessels. The Merchant Marine Act provides for financing tonnage for domestic service, but these owners have preferred to undertake this project without becoming involved with U.S. Maritime Commission control. The two vessels, which are to be completed in about 12 months, will be the first large ships to be built unaided for United States domestic service since the late 'twenties The Sealrain. New York and Seatrain Havana were built in 1932 by the Sun Company with the aid of a Shipping Board loan, and the third vessel of the fleet, the Seatrain New Orleans, was built hv Swan, Hunter and Wigham Richardson, Limited, in 1928.
