LEANING AT VATICAN SIDE WITH ALLIES (Reccl. Sept. 20, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 19. The Vatican City representative ot the" New York Times says that it is most likely the Vatican will side with Britain and France as champions of Christianity against paganism and communism if Russia and Germany are allied in an ever-increasing war. “The Soviet action constitutes a cowardly gesture,” declares the Osservatore Romano. The L’Avoro Fascista states that Turkey has assured Russia she will not neglect her trade relations with Germany. It is believed in Rome that Italy and the Balkans will only be suffered o remain outside the conflict if they keep Germany supplied.
