TREE-PLANTING EFFORT

COOK COUNTY PLANS NEXT SEASON SUPPLIES Plans for tree planting in the Cook County were discussed at a meeting of the County Council to-day, when a report of the tree-planting committee was placed before the meeting. "The meeting was convened in order that an order for seed for next season’s supply of trees should be given in time for the necessary planting to be carried out,” the report stated. “The authority for expenditure of up to £IOO for such seed was approved by the council at the August meeting, and the engineer was directed to set matters in train.

“The planting to be provided for covers: (1) the section transferred to the county by the Education Board and situated at Waerenga-o-kUxi; this section should be planted with pinus insignis and some macrocapa; (2) the reserve at Parikanapa, where the planting should be of eucalypti.” The report was adopted.
