RECORD RAILWAY TRAFFIC CAPETOWN, Aug 3. Prosperity still shows no sign of turning its back on South Africa. Recent railway figures provide new evidence of improvement in trade conditions in the Union, and serve to dispel the fears entertained in some quarters that another slump is lurking round the corner.

The South African Railways, which for long have been accepted as one of the most reliable of trade barometers, have broken several goods traffic records in the past few months. Goods traffic during the first week of July was heavier than at any other peak period in the history of the Administration. —Cape Times.
