STORAGE OF PETROL
WARNING TO MOTORISTS REDUCTION IX REVENUE BOROUGH COUNCIL FIGURE A warnin'; to motorists regarding 'ho storing ol' petrol and a reminder that the council would bo compelled to recast its estimates to provide l'nr a smaller revenue from the petrol las, were given to the Gisborne Borough Council last night by the town clerk. Mr. W. M. Jenkins. “In view of the Oil Fuel Emergency Regulations,” Mr. Jenkins stated,
“there appears to be a likelihood of persons storing quantities of petrol, and in this connection I desire to draw the attention of borough residents to the council's by-laws regarding storage.
"The maximum quantity which may be kept for private use without a license is fit gallons, and must not be stored within a dwelling or an outhouse attached to the dwelling. Persons storing in excess of this quantify must obtain a license to do so, and also have the conditions of storage approved.
"I also desire to remind the council that the restrictions on the use of petrol will result in a reduction of anticipated revenue, and expenditure will require to lie reduced accordingly.
“The council ks entitled to a share of the petrol tax. and this year Ims budgeted for £3200 from this source; £1855 has been received for the two quarters ended June 30, 1939.”
