MID-WEEK LADIES’ PLAY SEPTEMBER VASE TEST HANDICAP EVENT DRAW In last week's play by members of the Parle Ladies’ Gblf Club, Mrs. Lee, 104—53—71, and Mrs. Tamihana, 107 —3G —71, handed in the best cards. Til is week play will be for the vase test round. Members are reminded that next Sunday afternoon a mixed Canadian foursome will be held, the proceeds to be in aid of the Trubv King memorial .fund. In the senior handicap event, the first round of which is to be played by September 25, the draw is as follows. —Miss M. In The junior handicap event, the first round of which is to be played by September 25, the draw is as follows:—Mrs. Tamihana and Mrs. Mickie; Mrs. Forbes and Miss Price; Mrs. Robertson and Mrs. Hughes; Miss Hopps and Miss Kay: Miss Ensor and Mrs. Bayliss: Mrs. Wells and Miss E. Johnson; Miss Higgs and Miss Cox; Miss Izod and Mrs. Hall.
For Mrs. Hall’s trophy in the midweek play, Mrs. Alley meets Miss Popple and for Mrs. Lunken's trophy, Mi-.s. Marley meets Mrs. Pere and Mrs. Swainson meets Mrs. McDonald, both matches to be played by September 25. If mid-week and week-end players canmt arrange their games this Sunday, matches may be played on Saturday afternoon. TOKOMARU BAY CLUB (Herald Correspondent.) A bogey match played by members of the Tokomaru Bay Golf Club last week-end resulted in a win for H. Gardner, who finished all square. Other cards were: Horton and Short, 1 down; Fairlie, 2 down; Todd, Felton and Oates, 3 down; Riddell, Paerata and Stafford, 5 down; Jackson, 7 down: Orr, 9 down.
A monthly tankard was completed with the playing of a test round at the week-end. The prize for four best net cards returned over the month, plus a test round, was won by IT. S. Short with net scores of 60, 62, 62, 63 (63), 310. Others were: Horton, 63, 64, 64, 64 (63), 318; Gardner, 62, 63, 64, 67 (67), 323; Fairlie. 61, 63, 67, 67 (66), 324: Paerata. 59, 60, 63, 64 (79), 325: K. Oates, 61, 62, 66, 70 (67), 326; Todd, 62, 64, 68. 68 (67). 329. The test round scores are shown in parentheses. The final of the senior championship, played over 36 holes during the week-end, resulted in a win lor P. Fairlie, who defeated K. Paerata, 11 and 10. Fairlie played very sound golf, going to lunch with a commanding lead of 7 up. He proved too solid again in the afternoon.
