EX-AUCKLANDER’S WIN lI.Ii. CHAMPIONSHIP A brilliant exhibition of golf was provided in the final of the Hawke’s Bay amateur golf championship at Die Napier club’s links, Waiohiki, when B. G. Thomson, formerly of Auckland, annexed tire title by defeating H. C. Barlow, 2 up. Ideal conditions prevailed, and the course was in excellent order. There was a satisfactory attendance and the big crowd following the championship final saw Barlow take Die lead with a birdie three at the first hole; the next four holes were halved in par figures and Thomson made Die game all square with a biidie three at the fifth. Barlow regained his lead of one up at t’na seventh, but Thomson took Die eighth to square the game once more. The ninth was halved in' par figures. Thomson assumed the lead at the tenth, but Barlow squared the game at the twelfth. The next ■wo holes were halved in par figures and Thomson again became one up at Dio fifteenth. The sixteenth was halved in birdie fours, and the seventeenth was also halved, making .Thomson dormie one. He won the eighteenth to make him the winner, 2 up.,
