Read’s Quay
Sir,—Will you allow me once again to call the Harbour Board's attention to the deposit of rims and lyres below Peel street bridge. A few days after you printed my foimei letter 1 was gratified to see that ii had evidently had the desired result since at half-tide no rubbish was visible. Judge then of my disgust .on crossing the bridge yesterday at dead low water to see some 30 of the former 50 rims and tyres still embedded in the mud. The only conclusion I can come to is trial the Harbour Board in detailing a man to remove the rao i.'sh emitted to take into consideration the state of the tide when sending him, with the retail that only a few were removed. Bor a body such as a Harbour Board to act sc thoughtlessly is surely inexcusable. Since I wrote the E-orough Council has cleaned up the unsightly area between the bridge and firestation so that now more than ever before it is up to the Harbour Board to have the rubbish removed from the foreshore. Let us hope they will do so forthwith before the period of spring tides passes. J. -FRASER.
