ALLEGED JEWEL THEFTS
THREE MEN REMANDED CITY ROBBERY SEQUEL (Pur Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ last night. Arrested here last evening, Kenneth Hugh Bennetts, a salesman, aged 20, Wanganui, appeared in the Magistrate's Court to-day, charged with breaking and entering by night a shop owned by Gordon Stuart Hutchinson, at Auckland, and stealing jewellery valued at £BO and also with breaking and entering the premises owned by Ernest McFeat, at Auckland, and stealing jewellery valued at £072 and also being found without lawful excuse on premises in Chayter street, Palmerston North, last night. Detective - Sergeant Meiklejohn stated that a large quantity of jewellery was found in tiie possession of tiie accused who was remanded till Wednesday.
Allan Farquhar Young, aged 19, a baker, Wellington, who was charged with receiving from Bennetts a wristlet watch, knowing that it was dishonestly obtained and also with being found without lawful excuse on Stubbs’ premises was remanded. George Henry Doyle, aged 21, Auckland, who was charged with receiving from Bennetts two wristlet watches, was remanded.
