Engagement

An engagement is .announced between Douglas James, younger son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Maxwell, Devonport, Auckland, and Sheilagh Rosalee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Brosnahan, formerly of Gisborne. Twenty-First Birthday Party At’ the Bon Accord on Saturday night Mr. cad Mrs. A. W. Stenner entertained a happy gathering to celebrate the coming-of-age of their daughter, Miss Moily Stenner. Dancing to music supplied by Mrs. Mcnzies was entered into with keen enthusiasm, the floor being efficiently supervised by Mr. G. Foster. In the dining-room a delicious supper was delightfully arranged on tables beautifully decorated with seasonal blooms. Mr. G. Foster acted as chairman, and the following toasts were honoured: “The King"; "The Guest of the Evening"; "Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Stenner”; "Absent Friends.” Following the toast-list, Miss Stenner was presented with an attractive key symbolic of the attainment of her majority, and then, amidst applause, she proceeded to cut the handsome birthday cake.

suir.cd dancing, when novelty hats, squeakers, streamers and balloons were distributed. A spot waltz was won by Miss R. Ferguson and Mr. L. Shine.

Mrs. Stenner chose a graceful ensemble in a soft shade of brown. Miss M. Stenner looked charming in a frock of silver embossed satin relieved with a spray of purple violets.
