HELD UP IN PORT
SEVEN AMERICAN SHIPS (Elec. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Reed. Sept. 18. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 16. Seven American merchant ships were held up in New York harbour on Saturday, the crews refusing to sail without concrete concessions. They demand extra compensation for entering the war zoqes. There at present appears to be no chance of a compromise. Two ships should have sailed on Friday but the crews struck and the other ships arc unable to obtain crews.
