Playing good golf throughout, E. S. Toogood won the Poverty Bay Golf Club's title at the Awapuni links on Sunday, defeating R. I. Harrison in the final game.
The players finished ail square in the morning round, but Toogood commenced the second round well, going out in 35 to establish a big lead, which Harrison failed to overtake. The game was followed by a good gallery and the feat of Toogood in adding the club championship to his long list of golfing titles was well received.
In the final of the Hutchinson Cup D. W. Mclldowie beat R. P. Baigent, ■finishing one up.
During the week-end 18 players from the Tolaga Bay club and 16 from the Wairoa club visited Poverty Bay and took part in inter-club matches. The weather was not very favourable but enjoyable games were played, Poverty Bay finishing.with good margins of wins. Visits are to be paid to 'he Tolaga Bay and Wairoa clubs later in the season. In conjunction with the inter-club play, a four-ball best ball bogey match was played, this resulting in a win for D. Mclldowie (Poverty Bay) and A. McLean (Wairoa), this pair returning a card of 7 up to win.

A return match with 16 male players from the Gisborne Park club was played over the week-end at the Tuoi links, and, after closelycontested games, resulted in a comfortable win for the visitors. PARK CLUB Ideal conditions favoured the continuation of the club championship and the Brown Cup matches at the Park Golf Club on Saturday. The Duncan-Fearnley' game was very close, Duncan being out in 37 to be 3 up, but Fearnley fought back well and eventually .squared the match on the eighteenth. Halves were secured at both the nineteenth and twentieth, and at the twenty-first Duncan’s second, 4ft. from (he pin, enabled him to win Results were as follows: Championship.-P. 11. Dow beat J. McMillan, 6 and 4; F. Dobbie beat A. D. Tarr, 4 and 3; L. Stuart beat ,J. Slipper, 6 and 5; S. Duncan beat A. S. Fearnley at the twenty-first. Brown Cup. —P. A. Gavin beat R. Dudfield, 3 and 1; C. G: vin, who scored consistently to return 35 points. L. B. Stuart, with 34, was next, while P. Robertson, 33, and S. Duncan, 32, also scored well. Dryland Cup S. Duncan and P. Gavin retained the Dryland Cup when they finished all square with D. 11. Wells and J. Madden after a very interesting game. Luukcn Cup Owing to the inter-club match there was no Lunken Cup challenge this week-end.
