GOOD SEASON AHEAD
UNITED CRICKET CLUB ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the United Cricket Club was held on Wednesday evening, there being a large attendance of players and supporters. Bright prospects for the coming season were discussed and several new members were elected.
The election of officers resulted: — Patron, Mr. J. E. Mercer; president, Mr. B. Allen; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Owen, G. Casscy, J. Shields, G. Chrisp, R. Chalmers and J. Bray: committee. Messrs. J. Crawford-Smith, chairman, G. Hookham, club captain, L. Allen, D. McLeod, H. Holdsworth, A. Campbell, S. Scott, and the team captains; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr. E. Mawson.
It was decided, to enter two team . one in each of the A and B grade sections. On the. motion of Mr. Hookham, it was decided that the subscription for all players, under the age of 18 years would be 12s 6d per season, if paid before January of each year, and, after that date, 15s per season. Messrs. S. Scott, G. Hookham and E. Mawson were appointed delegates to the annnual meeting of the Poverty Bay Cricket Association. It was decided'to inform the Cricket Association that Friday was unsatisfactory tor the club practice night and t,o ask that the club be given Tuesday and Thursday nights.
The secretary was instructed to convey to Mr. P. C. Dwyer the thanks of the club for his services as coach and to invite him to again take over the coaching of the players in the coming season. New members were elected as follows:—Messrs. M. Allen, R. Bardswell,. J. Livingstone, A. McMillan, A. Weir, C. Hayes, FI. Holdsworth, N. Ledger, and T. Baty .
