WAGES PROTECTION BILL

REMOVING CONFUSION CONSOLIDATING THE LAW (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wages Protection and Contractors Liens Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives by Governor-General’s message last night, is designed to consolidate the existing law relating to t’ne payment of wages due to workers and of money due to contractors. It was read a second time pro forma and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee. When the bill was introduced, the Attorney-General, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, said it was a redrafting of the Act already on the Statute Book. The present Act was most confused in its procedure, with many pitfalls, and now the bill was designed to remove confusion.
