MAXIMUM BUTTER PRICES
FIXED IN LONDON NEW ZEALAND AT 129/(Recd. Sept. 14, 3 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 13. Maximum butter prices announced are: —Danish, wholesale, 148 s per cwt., retail, Is 7d per lb.: Empire, wholesale, 129 s per cwt. and Is 5d per lb.
The price of 129 s per cwt. for Empire butter announced in the above message is equal to 15.4 Gd per lb., f.0.b., or ,57d per lb. above the guaranteed price for last season's supply. To equal the guaranteed rate, butter must sell on the London market at 124 s 3d per cwt. , At the close of last week, Now Zealand butter was reported by the Dairy Board to have been selling at 124 s to 125 s per cwt. Until the end of last month, the retail price of New Zealand butter in London was Is 2d to Is 3d per lb., the market rate at that time being 121 s to 122 s per cwt.
