CANADA’S WAR BUDGET

OVERWHELMING VOTE PARLIAMENT PROROGUED (Reed. Sept. 14, 9 a.m.) OTTAWA, Sept. 13. The House of Commons overwhelmingly approved of the war Budget yesterday and went into conference to consider the Budget in detail. The Governor - General, Lord Tweedsmuir, to-day prorogued Parliament after the Senate had given final approval to the emergency legislation. He said: “The promptness with which you have acted affords unmistakable proof of the ability of free people to meet the grave emergencies of war.” The Prime Minister, Mr. W. L. Mackenzie King, in a brief speech in the House of Commons, urged that the inter-party co-operation should continue.

The Government adopted the policy of not accepting men for enlistment having over two children.
