CATTLE RATES DROP

STORE SHEEP FIRMER STORTFORD LODGE (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Fat cattle prices dropped considerably at Stortford Lodge yesterday. The quality was not so good as last week. Poorer lines were hard to sell. Store sheep met with a firm market, wether hoggets showing a clear rise. Ewes with lambs also met an improved demand. Fat sheep showed little change cm last week, the demand being sufficiently firm to dispose of the much smaller yarding offered at fair prices. Realisations were:—

Fat .Cattle—Solidly-finished, prime bullocks, £l3 10s to £ls 2s Gd; top price, £l7 10s: medium-framed bullocks to £l2 10s; small grown, wellfinished heifers £lO to £lO ss, lighter qualify £8 to £9 ss; heavy-conditioned cows £lO to £lO 15s, medium framed £8 to £9, light pens £6 to £7 10s. poor quality £4 10s to £5. Store Cattle.—Three-year steers, £7 7s Gd to £8 14s; four-year, fair store condition, £8 12s Gd to £9 14s; yearling steers, £2 18s Gd to £3.195; three-year heifers. £4 15s.

Store Sheep.—Wether hoggets lGs to 18s 4d; tops, 19s; poor quality to 14s Gd; ewes with lambs, 9s 3d to 11s 9d: top price, lGs 7d; ewe hoggets, 19s 3d to 20s; well-framed forward wethers, 20s Id.

Fat Sheep.—Best ewes, 20s 3d 1o 20s 9d; an exceptional pen, 2Gs Gd; lighter quality, 15s to 18s; wethers, 18s *o 21s 9d; best quality, 23s Gd to 23s 9d; hoggets to 21s Gd.
